Displaying Watercolor Paintings Without Glass
In this demonstration you’ll see how watercolor paintings on paper can be prepared for exhibition by varnishing instead of the traditional encasement behind glass with mats and framing. Coating your work with varnish provides a protective barrier from damaging moisture and sunlight, and with the addition of an optional isolation coat, the varnish can be removed for cleaning or to change the sheen.

How To Apply (and Remove) Waterborne Varnish
Protect interior acrylic paintings from dust and ultraviolet light with our newly formulated Gloss Waterborne Varnish. This varnish can be thinned and cleaned up with water, eliminating the need for harsh solvents. It can also be removed with household ammonia to facilitate cleaning and conservation.

How to Apply Spray Varnish to Paintings
Properly applied Archival Aerosol Varnish MSA with UVLS creates a durable, even film with the same features as GOLDEN brushable MSA varnish and with excellent clarity. It resists changes in appearance and remains flexible. Our spray cans have adjustable fan spray nozzle for controlled application and reduced overspray.
All GOLDEN MSA Varnishes are formulated with 100% solvent-based, reversible acrylic co-polymer resin. Spray varnish is easy to use and made with fast drying acetone and propellant. Available in Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Satin and Matte. Removable for conservation purposes.
