Painting on Glass

Glass
Glass is available in many forms and finishes, from slick window panes to etched glass with a texture similar to stone.
We recommend thoroughly cleaning and testing to see how your chosen material will work on your specific glass.
Generally, oils can be painted directly onto glass.
For acrylics, mix GAC 200 1:1 with your choice of paints for a harder, more durable paint film. Pure GAC 200 can be used as an optional primer before acrylics, but must be applied above 70°F/21°C for proper film formation.
For watercolors, we typically recommend applying Gesso followed by one of our three QoR Watercolor Grounds for a bright white absorptive surface.
For dry media like PanPastel, we recommend applying a textured ground or paste for improved tooth.
