A Message to Canadian Artists
March 19, 2025
Our vision is to be a catalyst bridging creative communities and inspiring positive global change through the arts.
To many, the concept of tariffs is simply a negotiating effort to gain concessions that will benefit one side or another. Yet it is clear, especially to our Canadian customers, that the disdainful communication and lack of recognition and respect for the great friendship and alliance the U.S. and Canada have enjoyed has been significantly damaged. This brings us great sadness.
Golden Artist Colors is a relatively small employee-owned company, yet we are also a global purchaser of goods as well as a global seller of goods. It has been made clear to us that Canadian artists (our customers) may choose to no longer use any U.S. products, including ours. This understandable choice will dramatically affect our employee owners and their security.
These circumstances clearly run counter to our vision. What are we doing? We’re understanding how our committed Canadian artists are feeling. We’re listening with purpose. We’re doing the same with our retail partners in Canada. We’re taking these insights and sharing them with our elected officials at both our NYS level and the Federal level. We’re working with our trade associations, asking to gather other organizations and companies willing to rally, stand, and dissent together.
This will not be a one-time event. This work must continue. Our ask, if we haven’t already had dialogue, is to please accept our reach, or reach out to us so we can listen and continue sharing your sentiments and impact with our elected officials.
Respectfully,
Employee Owners at Golden Artist Colors, Inc.
