GOLDEN Introduces 53 New PanPastel Colors, Delivering More Choices to Artists!
March 27, 2025
PanPastel Artist Pastels introduces 53 new colors to the product line, growing its color offering for artists by almost 50%! PanPastel, an innovative brand founded in 2007 by Bernadette Ward and Ladd Forsline, and acquired by GOLDEN in 2022, has had no new colors in over 10 years, leaving artists wanting more. The launch of these new colors is significant, presenting an opportunity to create excitement and expanded usage among existing users as well as grabbing the attention of potential users who may be unfamiliar with the unique pan format offered by PanPastel. Applied from a pan using sponge applicators, PanPastel colors were developed from a revolutionary product concept that allows pastel artists to do more – uniformly apply color to a surface as well as easily mix, blend, and erase colors – all with the creation of substantially less dust.
Expanding the palette answers artists’ requests for more colors and provides a more comprehensive range of hues and values. Through extensive evaluation of the entire line, additional color space gaps were noted and as a result, multiple trials of each color option were evaluated in order to curate a palette GOLDEN is confident will bring the greatest range and utility to artists. Included in the expansion are colors notably absent from the line, including Primary Yellow, Primary Magenta, Crimson, Teal, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, Vermilion, Cerulean Blue, Blue Green and Yellow Green. New Light and Medium colors fill a large gap in value between the Pure and Tint variant of many colors as well.
These new colors are being introduced in conjunction with the discontinuation of Diarylide Yellow Extra Dark, Phthalo Green Extra Dark and Chromium Oxide Green Extra Dark, as these colors are very similar to other colors in the line. Their discontinuation also allowed for additional new colors to be introduced.
With the launch of so many exciting new colors, GOLDEN has taken the opportunity to update its PanPastel sets too. New set packaging and color replacement, along with the introduction of a 53 New Color Expansion set, and several additional new sets bring a fresh look and enhanced versatility to the PanPastel set offering. Hanging sets will now use recyclable paperboard boxes in place of the current clear PET plastic or plastic bags, making them more environmentally friendly.
All 53 colors are available now, so be on the lookout at your local retailer to see what’s new!! You can also visit the PanPastel Colors page to see the new colors.
