Williamsburg Artist Oils Introduces 22 New Colors, Delivering More Choices to Artists!
October 26, 2026
Williamsburg Artist Oils is excited to introduce 22 new colors to its standard 37ml tube line, giving artists more ways than ever to explore color, build distinctive palettes, and bring their creative visions to life. The new additions include brand-new color formulations, beloved Specialty Colors, and artist-favorite hues previously available only in curated sets. Together, they represent a dynamic range of color experiences, from rich opaque pigments and versatile neutrals to luminous transparent colors and vibrant fluorescents. All 22 colors are now available individually in 37ml tubes through Williamsburg retailers.
Rich opaques for strong color and surface presence. Several of the new additions feature the bold, substantial character artists have come to expect from Williamsburg. Opaque and semi-opaque colors are ideal for creating structure, building textured surfaces, and developing paintings through expressive brushwork and layered applications. New colors Benzimidazolone Orange and Naples Yellow Deep offer powerful color statements while providing exceptional versatility for mixing.
New ways to work with light. Light Value Colors Titan Green Pale and Titan Violet Pale can be seen as alternative whites. They are great for keying the work toward a subtle color direction, setting the mood or capturing a certain type of light. Artists might use these opaque colors throughout the entire painting and reserve pure white for the highlights or brightest parts.
Previously only available in a curated set, joining the line are four Neutral Grays: N2, N4, N6, and N8. Neither warm nor cool, positioned between red, yellow and blue, grays can be used to de-saturate colors while maintaining or shifting their value. These carefully balanced grays provide versatile tools for adjusting intensity and value, creating subtle color relationships, and supporting traditional grisaille techniques. Used for underpainting, color mixing, or as sophisticated colors, they offer greater control and flexibility.
Transparent colors bring new energy to the palette. While every new addition offers unique creative possibilities, Williamsburg's new transparent colors are among the most exciting additions to the line. With a selection ranging from highly chromatic to rather subdued, all have a specific type of clarity that brings new opportunities to the palette. Transparent colors can be used to tint and mix and are especially well suited for glazing since they are made from pigments that allow light to travel through their crystalline structure, like stained glass. New transparent colors include Ultramarine Pink Deep, Transparent Pyrrole Orange, Isoindolinone Yellow, Benzimidazolone Burnt Orange, Transparent Brown Iron Oxide, Transparent Orange Iron Oxide.
Also joining the line are eight new fluorescent colors (Chartreuse, Orange, Red, Pink, Magenta, Violet, Blue, and Green), ), which were previously only available in a smaller 22ml size as part of a set. Fluorescent colors deliver an intensity rarely found in traditional pigments. Their electric brightness creates striking visual accents and offers artists an exciting way to introduce contemporary energy and unexpected brilliance into their work.
A refined palette designed for artists. This launch is part of Williamsburg's ongoing commitment to building a palette that is inspiring and intuitive to navigate. With the introduction of 22 new colors, the line has been thoughtfully refined, taking into consideration the artistic value, uniqueness, pigment availability, and real-world studio use of every color. The result is a robust but streamlined palette of 161 colors that retains the richness and character Williamsburg is known for while making color selection more intuitive.
