BEHIND THE CANVAS

AUGUST 2021

WHAT'S UP WITH THE EDUCATION TEAM?

Meet Elsie!

I am proud to announce that my daughter, Elsie, joined us on May 27th. We are all healthy and beyond happy. I am enjoying every moment with my new little one. Her personality is growing by the day. Thank you to everyone who sent gifts and for all of your well wishes!

And I'm Back!

As of 7/26 I am back to work, so you will start seeing communications coming from me again if you haven't already. Thank you for all of the welcome back messages that I have received so far. A big thank you also goes to Stacey and Kevin for taking care of all of you while I was out on maternity leave.

I look forward to working with you again!

UPDATES

Manufacturing Update for the QoR Mini

It's part of the DNA here at GOLDEN to always seek to improve all aspects of our business, but especially the actual products. It's in that spirit that we're happy to share with you some news regarding the QoR Mini half pan set.

We have refined our manufacturing process, which has resulted in a change in the appearance of QoR half pans.  Our original manufacturing process for pans was an extrusion process, but there were some difficulties getting each pan uniform in shape and size.

Our new process has moved away from an extrusion process in favor of a compression process which results in much greater uniformity from pan to pan.  This change is purely aesthetic, the paint still performs wonderfully, and has retained all of the qualities for which QoR pans are known - intense vibrant color, easy rewetting, and wonderful flow. Additionally the amount of paint in each pan has not changed - this is verified in manufacturing by weight as it always has been.

The most noticeable difference is the sheen of the top surface of the pan.  Our old extrusion process resulted in a high-gloss finish on the individual cakes of color where our new compression process results in a matte finish. Once the pans are wet, they look the same as they have previously.

Raw Material Shortage Updates

While we are still awaiting concrete availability dates, we will share all of the most recent information we have regarding these shortages.

Williamsburg Flake White:

Pigment is expected from the vendor in the next few weeks. Assuming delivery can be met, we hope to have finished good availability starting in September. In addition, the Flake White product, effective July 26 2021, will change from a Series 4 to Series 6. Rack Tags will be available to order.

PB60 Pigment:

Due to a shortage at our pigment supplier, products containing the blue pigment PB60- Indanthrone remain unavailable through at least September, 2021. We will be sending a follow-up communication as products are once again available to order.

Polymer Varnish:

Due to a raw material shortage, we are currently unable to produce our Polymer Varnishes. We are working with suppliers to understand when these materials may be available again to resume production, but at this time the shortage is expected to last through at least September. All sizes and sheens of Polymer Varnish are impacted
