Product Discontinuation Update

Artists,

We have recently received questions from artists regarding the discontinuation of certain products, so we wanted to be sure to address it in order to clarify any continued areas of uncertainty.

We continue to experience intermittent supply chain disruptions impacting pigments and other raw materials. These challenges have caused certain colors to be unavailable for a period of time, but there have also been a few permanent discontinuations of raw materials that have led us to completely discontinue products as follows:

Pigment PR206 no longer available
GOLDEN Artist Acrylics Quinacridone Burnt Orange has been discontinued (Heavy Body, Fluid, and OPEN)
GOLDEN Artist Acrylics Quinacridone Crimson has been discontinued (Heavy Body, Fluid, and OPEN)

NOTE: This will also impact QoR Artist Watercolors Quinacridone Burnt Orange, but we have sufficient inventory to keep this color available in QoR through early 2024.

Pigment PO48 no longer available
GOLDEN Artist Acrylics Quinacridone/Nickel Azo Gold has been discontinued (Heavy Body, Fluid, OPEN and High Flow). Unfortunately, there is no perfect replacement for Quinacridone/Nickel Azo Gold at this time, but a blend of Transparent Red Iron Oxide (PR101) and Nickel Azo Yellow (PY150), as shown here, should get you into a similar range in the masstone with a glowing orange undertone.⁠

NOTE: This will also impact Williamsburg Artist Oil Colors Quinacridone Gold Brown and QoR Artist Watercolors Quinacridone Gold and Quinacridone Gold Deep but we have sufficient inventory to keep these colors available in Williamsburg and QoR through early 2024.

GOLDEN Artist Acrylics Quinacridone Red Light has been discontinued (Heavy Body)
QoR Artist Watercolors Quinacridone Red Light has been discontinued

Pigment PY40 no longer available
Williamsburg Artist Oil Colors Cobalt Yellow has been discontinued

Pigment PV15 no longer available

NOTE: this will also impact QoR Watercolor Ultramarine Pink, but we have sufficient inventory to keep this color available through December 2023. It will also impact Williamsburg Artist Oil Colors Safflower Ultramarine Pink, but we have sufficient inventory to keep this color available through 2024.

Williamsburg Artist Oil Colors Cobalt Violet Light has been discontinued

QoR Artist Watercolors Cobalt Violet will also be impacted and only available for the remainder of 2023.

QoR Artist Watercolors Mars Orange Deep no longer available

QoR Mars Orange Deep has been discontinued due to availability of a unique PR101 pigment variant used in this color. However, there are many other PR101 variants that continue to be available including those used in QoR Venetian Red, Van Dyke Brown and Transparent Red Oxide.

GOLDEN Artist Acrylics Gloss and Semi-Gloss UV Topcoat has been discontinued

Pigment PR83 no longer available*

Williamsburg Artist Oil Colors Alizarin Crimson has been discontinued by our supplier and will no longer be manufactured. The items will be discontinued as our inventory is exhausted.

*GOOD NEWS: We secured a final purchase of the discontinued Alizarin Crimson pigment. By our best estimate, we believe we’ll have sufficient supply for the next two years. We will monitor and keep all informed.

COLOR BLEND CHANGES

As a result of discontinued pigments, the composition of some color blends has changed. This includes Golden Artist Acrylics India Yellow Hue (re-named from Indian Yellow Hue), Light Magenta, Alizarin Crimson Hue, Permanent Maroon and Iridescent Bright Gold.
