About the SAGG
The Sam & Adele Golden Gallery (The SAGG), at the Golden Artist Colors factory in New Berlin, NY, has represented the true center of our company’s dedication and commitment to advancing the tools of paint for artists. It was named to honor our founders, Sam and Adele Golden, who had the vision and tenacity of devoting what should have been their retirement years, to creating a truly unique resource for artists.
While the GOLDEN facility had created its original gallery space in 1988 and mounted several important shows during that time, including a seminal show of Native American artists, including Kay WalkingStick, Joune Quick-To-See Smith, Alan Michelson and others, curated by Phil Young. It wasn’t until the new facility was built in 2002 that we began to exhibit work in the newly renovated space. The SAGG was inaugurated in 2009 with the first major exhibition by the artist Darryl Hughto. Since then, we have held over 24 exhibitions in the gallery — a space we believe would rival any gallery in NYC, to the delight of our Central New York Community. The SAGG has celebrated artwork by Jake Berthot, Ali Cavanaugh, Susanna Coffey, Cora Cohen, Ronald Davis, Freidel Dzubas, Bill Jensen, Ronnie Landfield, Margrit Lewczuk, Judith Linhares, Knox Martin, Jules Olitski, Pat Passlof, Carl Plansky, Larry Poons, Milton Resnick, Susan Roth, Kikuo Saito, Mary Jo Vath, and Ann Walsh, as well as over 180 artists from around the globe who have joined us at the Golden Residency.
We have had the good fortune of having Jim Walsh as our Gallery Director all these years. Each year, Jim has selected the works for the Made In Paint group show and has selected the artists for the annual gallery exhibition. All have been chosen with the intention of sharing that intersection between materiality and the artists’ vision that has come to exemplify Golden Artist Colors and its deep connection to the community of artists.
