GOLDEN Employees to Exhibit in Governors Island Art Fair
August 08, 2012
Golden Artist Colors is pleased to share that 18 of its staff members will be exhibiting artwork at the Fifth Annual Governors Island Art Fair in New York City, which is free and open to the public from September 1-30, 2012, on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
"We're thrilled that so many employees are able to participate in this event," said GOLDEN CEO, Mark Golden. "It's a valuable opportunity for them to show their artwork, network with other artists, and be inspired by the diversity and vastness of the work being shown."
Run by artists, for artists, the Governors Island Art Fair features an exciting and varied selection of artists from around the world. Well over 100 independent artists are selected entirely on the merit of their work and once chosen, each is given space in which to create an exhibition environment of their own design. A selection of galleries, including the GOLDEN employees is exhibiting at the Fair as well as artists' studio residencies, which began in June.
The Governors Island Art Fair was founded by 4heads, a New York based arts group that specializes in commandeering and repurposing unused spaces in order to develop unique environments for the purpose of art exhibition, installation and performance so that artists from all over can make good use of dismissed areas. Ernie Sandidge, Nicole Laemmle, Jack Robinson and Antony Zito make up the founding core of the group, which formed in 2008 with a mission of forging new opportunities for the growing community of artists in New York and beyond.
This year the fair includes 120 rooms of sculpture, photography, painting, video, sound and object installations, featuring artists from as far away as Paris and Taiwan. Some 2012 highlights include Parisian artist Aldo Carreda's haunting works with altered fingerprints; performance by New York's Ambrose Martos; and a large diorama of politicized faux Hummel figurines by Berlin-born Tine Kindermann.
For any Golden Artist Colors' employees who are interested in supporting fellow co-workers and experiencing the art at this event, the company has made arrangements to provide transportation.
