Golden Artist Colors and Alliance for Young Artists & Writers Support Arts Educators

March 15, 2016

Golden Artist Colors and the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the organization that administers the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, are celebrating the impact of art educators across the country through a joint initiative. Support from GOLDEN in this partnership is three-fold. In addition to a financial contribution to the organization, GOLDEN is offering art educators whose students have received a 2016 Scholastic Award, a chance to participate in the Golden Residency Program. Lastly, GOLDEN will be providing materials support to a number of educators through a gift certificate donation.  GOLDEN and the Alliance sincerely value the roles that educators play in the success of the next generation of artists and this effort is a strong reaffirmation of that belief.

GOLDEN Educators Residency:

Golden Artist Colors and the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, with support from the Sam & Adele Golden Foundation, have partnered to offer an unprecedented opportunity for art educators whose student(s) received recognition in the 2016 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Three educators will be invited to participate in a 14-day artist residency in upstate New York.

Educators will be chosen in conjunction with the Alliance and the National Art Education Association (NAEA). As Golden Artist Residents, these educators will have an unparalleled opportunity to work with unique materials that open new channels for expression and the creative process. New technologies which challenge the way we think about paint are also available for residents to explore. GOLDEN experts will provide technical assistance throughout the residency.

GOLDEN Materials Support:

For the third year in a row, through the generosity of GOLDEN, art educators with National Scholastic Award-winning art students will receive materials support for their own practice. This year, gift certificates provided by Golden Artist Colors in $1,000 denominations will go to 12 art teachers. Recipients will be chosen in conjunction with the Alliance and include the three 2016 Golden Educator Residents.  Art educators across the country play a crucial role in the Scholastic

Art & Writing Awards; they encourage and engage students, inspire their creativity, and help them submit their work. This donation is a gift for those that continue to motivate young artists every day and will provide these educators with support to continue painting for themselves.
