Golden Artist Colors' CEO Mark Golden to Receive Honorary Doctorate from Colgate University

Golden Artist Colors' CEO Mark Golden to receive an honorary doctorate from Colgate University. Acknowledged for his outstanding contribution to the arts and to the regional economy, Golden was selected by the Committee on Honorary Degrees, which is composed of Colgate trustees, faculty, and students. Golden will receive recognition at the 2014 Colgate University Commencement ceremony on May 18.

"Mark Golden's commitment to Central New York, both as a business leader and an entrepreneur, makes him an ideal candidate for recognition from our university," said Colgate University President Jeffrey Herbst.

"This is such an unexpected honor," said GOLDEN CEO, Mark Golden. "I am humbled to be receiving it from such an outstanding institution."

Golden was selected as the 1996 Small Business Person of the Year for New York State and recognized by President Bill Clinton for his activities in creating a business that exemplifies the spirit of Corporate Citizenship in providing a work environment that values all employees.

In 1998, Golden presented at the Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) conference, speaking on the topic of introducing Social Responsibility in a small business.

In 2005, Mark received the New York Foundation for the Arts' (NYFA) 2005 Inspiration Awards and was honored by the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) with a 2005 Wall of Fame Award.

In 2011, Golden Artist Colors was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the top 50 small businesses to work for. In June 2012, the company was recognized by Americans for the Arts as a 2012 BCA 10: Best Companies Supporting the Arts in America, which is given annually to ten businesses of all sizes for their exceptional involvement with the arts to enrich their workplace, education, and the community.

Golden holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester. He currently resides with his wife, Barbara Golden in Earlville, N.Y., and has two daughters, Callen and Emma Golden.
